Making the gallery easier to search???

There are so many pictures on CC. I know they are working on new ways to organize them. I would love to be able to search for cakes classified by skill levels of some kind, or technique in all the different catagories. That way you wouldn't have to search through so many pages pics at a time. Anyone else agree?

Edited because some people don't read all the way through before responding... I'm just looking for some better ways to search the gallery. Maybe if a drop down menu was added at the upload with some extra info like, fondant or buttercream, advanced or beginner, tiered, sheet cake....it would make searching the galleries so much easier.

Being a somewhat newbie to this site I think I agree. But I also think that seeing all skill levels give us a chance to see so make cakes that we might miss if they were seperated.

Either way as long as they all showed up on the front for a bit of fame, I think it would be good.

Anyone?

I don't think that would work, because there are some who feel that they would fall into one category, and in reality be in the other.

I just think the more subcatagories we have the easier it will be to get to what you want without having to look through thousands of pics.

I see your point, but you can look through all the galleries so I don't think that would be too much of a problem.

I disagree. How people see their work is not necessarily how others would perceive it. I consider myself a beginner since I only started decorating a year ago. Also, sometimes I get cute ideas from beginners cakes and can adapt their designs. Just because they may not have the skill level yet does not mean they cannot come up with some cute ideas.

instead of "beeginner" or advanced, why don't we have the categories or "professional" those who make money doing this and hobbiest those who do this strictly for fun.

I'm going to have to disagree with the idea and agree with feverfixer I have loved both professional cakes and newbee cakes.

I totally agree...I am a beginner and I love to see veteran's cakes as well as newbie's cakes.

I'm not saying beginners don't have good ideas. I'm just looking for some other ways to sort pics. Maybe the subcatagory fondant or buttercream would be a good start.

For example. I just did a search for Baby Boy. The results were 25 pages long. If I'm looking for advanced techniques or a fondant only cake (I'm not saying BC isn't advanced. I'm just using an example) I don't want to have to look through all 25 pages. Does that make sense?

If you wanted to divide by professional that's fine too. I just think some extra info in catagorizing(sp?) the pics would be nice.

I will keep my opinion to myself on this one, but all I'm going to say is that I disagree with dividing beginner and advanced. It'll be just one more reason for some people to get the drama going again.

Ok. Maybe I'm being unclear. I don't really want seperate galleries. Maybe an extra drop down menu when you upload the pics. If it uses advanced techniques, or all fondant, or all BC then you can check that too. That way when doing a search it will narrow things down a lot more than it does right now.
