then please say something constructive. I recently posted a pic of my first purse cake. i asked for any comments or recommendations. a cc member wrote "SUCKS." Now, i have no problem with someone thinking my creation is bad, but please have the consideration to at least tell me why it sucks and how it can improve. i thought it was very unbecoming, considering everyone here has been nice and helpful thus far. oh well....

I can't imagine who was obnoxious enough to leave such a message.

Besides, they are completely wrong.

Your cake is very clever and well made.

maybe it wasnt a CC member and they left their page open and a bratty person wrote something down. This use to happen all the time in college when dorm mates would leave their IMs open people would start going crazy putting down all sorts of bad, nasty stuff. I just cant imagine a CC member doing that. Where all such happy, supportive people. I sure hope it was a fluke!

OMG I can't believe that someone could actually say that....what an incredibly rude thing to say.

I think it's a very pretty cake....well done.

I'm so sorry somebody was so rude and insensitive. I wouldn't worry too much about it, I'm sure it's not worth your energy.

I think your purse cake came out extremely well. I love the flowers on the corner. I haven't been brave enough to try one yet. Great job and keep your chin up thumbs_up.gif

Well, I just checked for you, and that certain member is 15 years old, so I guess that we can expect childish behaviour from a child, although that is absolutely no excuse for being so rude! If my (nearly) 15 year old said that to someone, I would be mortified! Of course, it may be as said above that it wasn't that member themselves, but some idiot friend of theirs who thought that they were being clever and funny icon_mad.gificon_rolleyes.gifthumbsdown.gif

Your cake is actually very nice, I love the flowers! What is the handle made from?

Keep your chin up, your work is coming along very well - and don't let this one teenager taint your view of all the teenagers on here (and we have a few!), most are very sweet and appreciate that a lot of us have years of experience and help to pass on to them thumbs_up.gif !

I agree! Hopefully, it was as mentioned above: "a fluke" of sorts. I'm sooo sorry to hear how insensitive some people are and clearly they do NOT know what they are talking about as your purse cake is beautiful!

Ditto to all the above - the cake is lovely! I think the quilting, flowers and bow are all very well done! I would also like to know, what is the handle made from - it looks almost transparent!

I think you did a great job on the cake too! Don't let one bad comment spoil it for you. Chalk it up to poor manners. My parents always taught me...."If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Or, another thing the person doesn't know...."Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Keep baking, keep posting pics and try to ignore the comments that don't really count

I'm very sorry, someone wrote that down. It's a beautiful cake, I especially love the flowers in the corner. Though, speaking up for my fellow 15 year olds here on CC, not all of us are like that. and it was in very bad taste for that comment to be left there.

It does SUCK...that someone would write that. Gotcha (couldn't resist). Your cake is beautiful and deep down you know it is something to be proud of. The response was rude, but look at it this way, if that is the worst acting out, well, act...that a teenager does, consider ourselves extremely lucky. The kid was probably trying to be funny and it backfired. The cake looks great...let's not give the kid even more attn and let's drop the subject or all of our teenagers are going to get on cc and tell each of us how much we suck.... icon_lol.gif

Your cake is just beautiful. I know it is a cake, but it looks just like one my daughter would use to play dress up. icon_biggrin.gif Don't let one off the wall comment upset you. I would figure it came from someone who really doesn't know how much time and effort it takes to make such a wonderful cake. thumbs_up.gif

It is Very pretty!!!!!!!!

Your cake looks great for a very first effort in in that style. As in anything else in life, it takes a lot of courage to try something new. You tried, and as far as I am concerned, you succeeded.

I am deeply embarrassed to find out that one of our members is making such deplorable remarks to another member. There is no excuse for such behavior. For the most part, we are a great mixture of professionals and non-professionals, masters to newbies, over 70,000 members strong. There is no need to keep a member who causes this much hurt and embarrassment.

I hope that the mods and site owners are taking some kind of action on this situation.

a teacher's lament:
the death of manners!

and when so many adults -- not just teens, tweens, and young adults -- have potty mouths and don't curb their speech either -- well whaddya expect!??!

----
and even tho' I have an aversion to girly, frilly, and pink:
good flower (roses? not sure can't really tell) cluster, great job on the diamond impressions.

BUT

inquiring minds want to know ---

how did you make that handle -- looks to be made of sugar????

Wow! This purse is sooo precious! Your diamond impressions are very nice and I love the style of flowers! It looks like you could use this cake for a shower or even a wedding! This could be one of those small cakes on each table. icon_wink.gif

If you are like me, you probably fretted over the comment. That's terrible. I know there is no way I could even attempt a purse cake. Your cake looks amazing to me. Did you try PM'ing them? I read a forum thread once. The topic title was offensive and not very "PC". I sent her a PM. The user was very apologetic and planned to contact the moderators to remove the post. I thought it was very responsible. She said she had never intended to offend anyone and it ended on a nice note. It's a shame to be put down. Like me, you probably come to this website to relax and enjoy yourself. We get enough stress as is!!
