This weekend I altered the bride's cake recipe from the cake mix doctor. I must say that it was soooo delicious.
I used soy milk in place of the cup of whole milk and I added a cap full of vanilla butternut in addition to the 2 tspns of vanilla extract. Very good. The vanilla butternut is actually one of the Lorann oils I purchased from my local cake supply store. It really enhances the flavor of your cake. Now I will have to try more flavors b/c the vanilla butternut was delicious.
Thanks for the tips ACB I've never used the soy milk in a cake. Glad to hear it worked well. I like experimenting with the oils too. I'll have to pick up some of the vanilla butternut.
How would you describe the taste of the Vanilla ButterNut? I just used some Vanilla Butternut and I thought it tasted like coconut. I had given my neighbors some cake also and the wife mentioned the cake must be coconut and her husband told her no, it was vanilla something.
