Make a square or rectangular cake, decorate to look like a turntable. Make a 1 layer round cake and make it look like the record on the turntable.

Use frozen buttercream transfers. There are instructions on this in the articles section, in the tabs at the top of the homepage.

Adding onto the previous idea - you could even do an edible image of a record to go on the 1 layer cake that acts as the record. You can have these done at grocery stores that do picture cakes for a nominal fee - you just tell them you only want to buy the image and they will print it for you!

Just a another REAL simple thing is to use AIRBRUSH! You can cut out what you need to write for the top of the cake out of paper, lay it on the top, and then do the Colorsprays all around it to look like it's grafitti!

Or you can do an edible image or FBCT of a microphone!

You could find out if she has a favorite brand of hip-hop/urban clothing that she likes like and do a FBCT. The graffiti would be cute too. If you can't go with airspray you could find a cool graffiti scene and have it turned into an edible image.

Or you could just buy some fake "bling" and lay it on top of the cake, lmao.

I'm liking the bling idea, actually thumbs_up.gif ... incorporating some hip hop fashion would give you some other things to work with (sneakers, jewelry, etc.). Check out the wikipedia article for more ideas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_culture (There are internal links to specific elements of hip hop culture, too).
