Hello Everyone. I am new to the forum area and Cake Central. I love the site! I have a question.... Someone emailed me a picture of a cake (Barn cake that says "Happy Birthday Jack" from

www.cakeworkscentral.com/newsletters/farm.htm

I do not know how much this would normally cost because of all the little work that goes along with it. 3 cupcake haystacks, royal icing doors, fence, scarecrows, sheep, pigs, cows, and chicks. Could someone please help me!

Thank you in advance!!!!!

Prices usually depend on the area.

Do you not do much pricing at all?

You can price per serving or use a matrix, or you could multiply the cost of your ingredients & time by 2.5 or 3.

I would say that this cake is going to be pretty expensive.......I mean, a 3-d cake & royal icing animals.......and that fence......it's gonna be a pretty penny.

Don't know what to tell you to charge for it, but don't undercharge............price a little higher & IF you want, you can lower it.

I have a question, in pricing cakes, would you price a square cake (say 8") the same as you would price a round cake of the same size? Am making up a base price list and have my rounds & rectangles priced, but am not sure about pricing squares.

My single layer 9x13, double layer 8in round, & double layer 8in square are all the same price. I use those as my base cakes (since they are all the same amount of ingredients and servings) and go from there. Keep it simple & you dont have to worry as much. icon_smile.gif
