I am attempting to make the yellow brick road from Wizard of Oz for some cupcakes. My question is: what would be the best and easiest way (after I melt the candy) to make the bricks small enough to place on top of the cupcakes and still look like the brick road?

Should I melt them, and then pour it not too thick onto a cookie sheet with parchment paper on it and let it cool?
Or should I use something else? icon_redface.gif

Once it is hardened a little then make my marks with a knife or spatula to make it look like bricks?

What do you think?

I have not worked with candy melts...are you talking about chocolate?? If so, you should check a posted thread yesterday about Wilton Melts being recalled for some reason! It was in a newspaper and someone posted it. Please check...I would not want you to eat or serve bad candy!

Hmm.... Well, I would either groove it and then fill it in a bit with coloring or I would actually make little bricks of candy... probably scoring it and then using a food color water paint to hilight the grooves would be easiest, but it might crack on you too!

I would make the chocolate and grove and then hightlight. It would be a lot easier. I think it was the chocolate, not he white candy melts.

I can't seem to find the thread. Was it posted her ein the candy section? I thought about using the yellow melts, since I already have them here, but I may have to go and buy something different. I don't have a regular candy supply store nearby, I guess I better get on the phone to track down stuff. Thanks for the help.

I am going to groove it, and then darken it with dark chocolate in places, like a stain(maybe i will dust with some luster dust or something)
Now I have to think again.

Have a great day!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Here's the link

I think it just says that there has been some milk accidentally put in it and if someone has an allergic reaction to milk then it could cause them to be ill. Unfortunately there is not that much information.

Well, it's just dark cocoa. Just stay away from that if you're worried. (Isn't chocolate supposed to have some milk in it anyways?)
