Hello. I recently purchased liquid candy color in pink to color white chocolates. Now I need lavender instead. Where I purchased the candy colors won't take it back (eventhough it hasn't been opened - it has a seal), anyway, so now I'm stuck with it. Don't want to dish out anymore $. Can I use Wilton paste colors to color the chocolate instead?

Nope, they will seize it up. You need to go get more oil based color, or you can use powdered colors if you have them. You can still use your extra pink coloring to color any other icing or whatever - not just candies. But don't use it in royal, that needs to be fat free.

You can use cake food colors in the candy, just make sure you add some oil to it and mix it really well.

Americolor has a product called Flo-Coat that you can use to color chocolate, it has no water. Might try it if nothing else works.

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies.....I found candy melts in lavender! I went to Michaels to buy the candy colors @ $4 and found the candy melts @ $2.50. Since its only to color the ribbon, I think they will be OK. The boxes will be white chocolate with the lavender ribbon.

By the way, what is the best way to melt this? I had bought the plastic bottles from Michaels. Can I melt them in there?

I would melt them in a bowl so that you can stir them.
