BAKERY BUTTERCREAM FLAVOR..... HOW????

Does anyone know the secret to the FLAVOR that is used in WalMart or Kroger buttercream? It is SOOOOO good, but Buttercream Dream or the Wilton Recipe don't taste anywhere close to me.

Does anyone know this top-secret recipe or what flavor they use that I don't???

Thanks!!

Sorry, but if anyone ever told me that my icing tasted like walmart or kroger, I'd break down in tears in total disappointment.

Okay, well maybe not WalMart or Kroger... but how about a less "buttery" flavored icing and more of a sweet vanilla flavor?

There is a bakery in town that has heavenly icing and it is closer to the "commercial" icing than the buttercream dream I make. I sure wish I knew their secret. I swear there is something illegal in that stuff!!! It is so addictive...

Try using more crisco and less butter and add more vanilla to your taste.

Try adding creme bouquet or princess flavorings, I hear they taste amazing when used. I just bought myself a bottle of both, can't wait...

I work retail and we make scratch icing. the flavoring we use is called B&V, short for butter and vanilla, it is powdered. Not sure where to get it.
Maybe you can purchase it from them.

Creme bouquet is great in BC, so is the Princess cake and cookie emulsion, and the butavan flavoring. I personally can't stand all-crisco bc, but I do agree that it has the more in-store-bakery bc taste. I would suggest that you experiment with different flavors in buttercream dream frosting, though, because I've used a lot of different extracts, flavor emulsions, and flavor combos in it and I haven't met a single person yet who has not loved it!

i use creme royal, and i absolutely love it!. i recently purchased a lady's business from her (her supplies) cause she was going out of business, and she had a bottle of this in there. i had been reading about creme bouquet, and i figured that this was probably similar...it is awesome. i have added it to cakes, fondant, buttercream dream, etc. and it smells wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i looked it up to see where she had gotten it, i found it at sugarcraft. here's the info:
Creme Royal Flavor Emulsion - you asked for it, here it is! An exciting new flavor used widely in Kentucky. Add a few drops to a 2 pound icing recipe or cake batter. A light butter-citrus enhancer containing vanilla and almond flavors. #17399
9 oz. $3.25 QTY
Gallon $29.00 QTY

You can get creme bouquet, creme royal, Princess C&C emulsion, and butavan all at sugarcraft. My only issue with that site was the high S&H costs, but others have had problems. You might want to do a search of the forums here before you order from them, just so you know what issues others have had.
