has anyone used these for cookie pops? my husband picked some up for me and i was planning on using them with graduation hat cookies that i'm making this weekend.

i was wondering if i should soak them in water or something to keep them from burning?

thanks,

I don't manya, I've read before that some people don't, either. I put mine in before baking with no problems.

I don't soak them either - they're not in the oven long enough to burn or scorch.

Also, try the flat wooden stir sticks (bought at a dollar store) - they're the same shape as a popsicle stick but quite a bit longer and thinner.

I use the wooden coffee stirrer sticks for most cookies. They are not as wide as popsicle sticks (I use those too for wider cookies). These all work better than the round white sticks. Just my opinion. The cookies do not spin around and they are super cheap. 1000 sticks for 2.39 and 2.99. I stick mine in after baking. It's easier for me than prior to baking. I just slide them in as soon as cookies come out of the over, let them cool a bit on the pan, the lift off. I only bake my cookies around the perimeter of the pan and make sure they are placed with the bottoms to the edge so that inserting is easier.

Manya, Did you get your Grad Cap Cookies made? I'd love to see them. I'm making some this week-end but can't find any photos. I have a new cookie cutter and I don't know if the whole thing is a cap, or if the bottom part is a face?

hi cindyw,

i made a test run of the graduation cap cookie but i haven't decorated them yet. my grad party isn't until july 1st. i have just the one with the cap and tassle. i got it off of ebay. the one thing i don't like about it is that it is small. i think i would have preferred a bigger one but this cutter was only 1.49

is the cutter that you have round on the bottom and a hat on the top? if so i think that is the one with thecap on the top and smiley face on the bottom.

here's a link of the smiley face one. just click on it to see a decorated verion.

this one is a regular cap:

hope this helps.

Thanks Manya, That's exactly what I needed to know. Mine is not round on the bottom so I was having a problem picturing it, but that site shows a decorated one. Thanks Again.

cindyw,

you're welcome. how did your cookies turn out? when i did my test run the tassles kept breaking before i could get the dough out of the cookie cutter. i ended up using my finger to gently push them out. the graduation party isn't until july1st.

by the way your cakes are beautiful.

The tassels on my cookies kept breaking too. I figured out if you kinda stretch the cookie cutter apart the dough came out easier, but then some of them broke off after I baked them. I painted tassles on the ones that broke and they turned out just as well.
Thanks again Manya,
