Goth Cake For 14 Year Old Girl~ Any Ideas?
Decorating By ValMommytoDanny Updated 25 Apr 2007 , 1:32pm by Rikke_Denmark
I have been asked to do a Goth cake for a 14 year old girl - something not too far overboard and not something too girly.... hmm... quite some middle ground huh?
I checked out the galleries looking for inspiration and her Mom gave me her myspace page with is (of course) all in black and roses and silver butterflies. Anybody have any ideas? It has to feed 20 people.
As a previous Goth chick myself a zillion years ago I want to keep going really dark and need something a little on the lighter side... hehe
oh, and I have to order those little silver dragees online - I have no idea what 4mm is versus something else mm... can anyone give me a visual comparison so I know what I am ordering? This cake should have those
Thanks so much for any suggestions!
not sure if you watch ace of cakes but they did a goth cake a few weeks ago. had red bows and skulls i think.
why not make the cake like her myspace page???
I agree! Go off her myspace, youll know she will love it and youll make the daughter and the mom happy.
I'm not thrilled with the whole Goth thing. If it were my 14 year old I was say NO WAY! But then again I'm an old fuddy duddy.
That being said, I would make the cake covered with black fondant and make silver butterflies. Even make them flying with wire!
Maybe a package cake wrapped in goth style "paper" and the lid is open with the silver butterflies coming out.
i just did a cute girly skull cake( i couldnt upload it but its in my pics) maybe you can use red instead of pink and do red and black roses on the side???

I agree, he page is what she likes.
About the dragee's if you have a ruller in cm or check out a tape measure if it's recent you should have metric on it too.
I cannot find my cm ruller right now. But 1 inch is equal to about 2.54 cm that means about 25 mm (25.40mm to be exact). So if you are looking at 4mm it's about 1/6 of an inch.
4 mm = 0.157480 inches - I know it's
Check out this web site.

I really hope this makes sense to you.
Good Luck.
You could also browse the Hot Topic store website. They sell alot of goth merchandise. I'm sure you could find some inspiration there.
writer_mom, you totally took my idea! Pink and black are in and a lot of the hot topic & torrid clothing are, so no need to change to red if you don't want to. I wouldn't go too hot topic though because there are those goths that think hot topic is a sell out for goth wannabes. Great, huh? (my niece) Anyways, my vision was to copy a "goth" fabric as a cake pattern and do wire stick outs of butterflys, skulls, etc.
My son wants a Goth Castle for his graduation. If I'm in an indulgent mood, I may oblige.
There's tons of things you can do with a castle cake and goth themes. I love the silver butterflies. Add some pink and black and you're good to go.
Wow, you guys are awesome! Such great ideas - I think I am going to sketch out a couple of ideas to show the Mom - I think the black, silver, and purple with butterflies are certainly a go.
Thanks for the mm info - I get so lost with that stuff. I was looking at my ruler and my 8 yr old explained it to me too... I am getting old...
Thanks
The Ace of cakes goth cake was pretty cool. They had a goth gal do the decorating. It is probably shown on their web site. Charm City Cakes.

I LOL on that one!
I just realized today that a girl at works children are grown adults and have made her a grandmum... Where does the time go?
The Goth Cake on Ace of Cakes was awesome... You can check it out for inspiration and maybe tone it down for a 14 year old.

Look under The Cakes tab. Good Luck!
I have seen a cake that was all black, but had red ribbens. It looked really cool.
