Help I have made a a fruit cake marzipaned and fondant iced all looking beautiful then disaster struck it looked like a big brick wall well I was hopeing to make a top layer of water / blue piping gel. 1 day later it looked great 2 days later the cake is seeping from the piping gel disaster. Has any one used this clear piping gel that you make up yourself. The cake is for next Friday now I do not know if the cake will go mouldy .Damn it.........Im stressed. Any ideas.......I am a perfectionist so I am inclined to take off the fondant and start again. Help

Did you make the homemade gel from the recipe off of here??? If so.....there has been numerous people who have reported the same reaction including myself.I tried the recipe and it was like soup.It all seeped into my golf course cake as well. Now I only use wilton or CK gel.Sorry this happened to you.I would scrape it off!

I made a batch of this from the recipe on here and it was a disaster. I'm glad it was only a practice cake. I bought some of the Wilton brand and have had no problems with it, but I was hesitant to try it after the homemade failure.

Does CC have a policy about removing recipes that are constant disasters? It's a shame to see so many people ruin their cakes/time. I can't speak for the recipe since I haven't made it, but I've seen complaints about this recipe several times.
