I am making a tres leches cake for DH to take to work on Friday for Cinco de Mayo. My question is, can I take this cake out of the pan? I'm assuming that if I pour the milks in before I take it out, I'm stuck with it in the pan. But what if I take it out of the pan and then pour the milks over it? Will that work or will it fall apart? Or will all of the milk ooze everywhere? Can it be frosted with buttercream or should I use whipped cream? Many of the guys in the plant are from Mexico, so I want this to be really good, but I've never made one before! Thanks so much for your help!

Happy Baking,
Beth

I recommend u leave it in the pan. I make them all the time, and they are best served straight from the pan. This gives the cake a good opportunity to soak up all the milks. As for icing, whipped cream or IMBC is best. Regular BC is just too sweet along with the already extra sweet cake. Good Luck!

Thanks a bunch KakesandKids! I'm sure glad I asked ahead of time. I think I'll go to the store and pick up some disposable Gladware pans to make these in so they can just throw them away when they're gone, DH isn't always very prompt in bringing my pans back home! LOL
