Help!! Petit Fours!

I have never tried this stuff so I've decided to get brave & experiment. Just a few ?'s First off, what type of cake mix do you use & also I'm looking for the easiest method of frosting them. I'm tempted to try the MMF.....Please let me know your views on this one. Thanks a bunch.

You can use any kind of cake you like. I think the easiet way to cover them would be to coat them with candy melts.

I made petit fours last week here is how I did it..not sure if its right but it worked and they turned out beautiful--
any cake mix in a large enough cake pan to make cake 3/4 to 1 inch tall when cooked
heat apricot perserves run through strainer, brush on to cooled cake.
Roll out marsapan to very thin layerand place on top of apricots.
cut with cutters or knife to small 1-2 inch squares or triangles.
Mix 8 cups Con. sugar and 5 Tablespoons of water on stove get to just luke warm
place cooling racks on a cookie sheet and cut cake on the cooling racks
take pan of icing and dump it over the cake.
the icing will cover the cake and the excess will be caught in the cookie sheet.
excess icing can be heated up and dumped again and again until you get all the cake covered.
