Love those pansies gramma! They're my favorite flowers too. I'm anxious to hear your comparison of the two cookie recipes!
I liked Martha's cookies too for a change. I really like the No Fail with Antonia's icing though. Guess I'll have to try Martha's with Antonia's icing too. I think No Fail are more like a shortbread than Martha's.
For the pansies, I just found an image on Google I liked and made a cardboard pattern from that. I have a load of cookie cutters but I think it is just about as easy to find something on Google to use instead.
cakecre8ter - love the colors, adn the butterflies!
lacie - very pretty!
grammacookies - the pansies are wonderful. that's the flower I chose for this month's theme, too (I haven't posted them yet, will try later today).
Great job eveyone! Can't wait to see the rest of the piuctures this coming week!!
What happened to all of the cookie bakers?! April was full and May tapered off quite a bit, it is almost June, too.
I dont think I will make it this month. Next month for sure. Is everyone thinking of a theme for next month. THere have been some great cookies. Im still voting on cake theme birthday and wedding.

I think the "flower" theme was too restrictive and half of the April bakers made flowers already. If'n you ask me the themes should allow for more creativity, say June could be "anything but the color yellow (for example) has to be used somewhere on it", or "something you do in summer", or "anything but you have to use a round cutter", or ....
Just my thoughts.
And hey-- Where are those cookies Cake_Princess!!

~back to work on my hula girl cookies.
That sounds interesting. Kind of like a school bulletin board They have a pretty broad theme. Some months have sayings. Do all of them? Ive proboly brought this up before. Not many days left in May though. It will be interesting to hear the new theme .Newbies jump in too!
How about a beach/ocean theme for June - in honor of the start of summer, and making it as broad as possible, the cookies can be based on anything that you can See, Do or Eat at the Beach (Ocean or Lake)

Now that's a great suggestion and it leaves a lot to creativity!

Biscuit cutter for dead jellyfish!
ok... here are my May flowers. I decided to make pansies. I clipped this recipe out of a magazine a few years back and I've been dying to try it because they looked so great - Mine do NOT look as good as the picture in the magazine!!!
They are a light lemon cookie with a painted sugar glaze on them.
The funniest part is that I was going to take them over to a neighbor, and my husband told me not to - he said that they "are not your best work." I told him that they are a different kind of cookie than I usually make and I explained that the 3-d petals and the painting effect was supposed to be that way. He said that no one would get that from looking at them and that compared to the kind of decorated cookies that I usually make it would just look like it was sloppy!!!
bonniebakes, I think you did an excellent job. Did you end up taking them to your neighbour?
Bonnie are you kidding me? Your hubby needs a can o' opened for him! They look great, I love the 3-D effect and the coloring is great!
Okay, we have 3 days left in May....
Bonnie, I'm laughing at your story! Husbands can be funny that way!
They look beautiful! Great job as usual!

There really cute they look like real pansies bonniebakes.
Have you all decided on the next theme yet? I can't wait to hear what it is. I should be able to post some cookies by then.
thanks everyone! yes, husbands can be funny! I decided to take it as a compliment that he thinks what I usually do looks good!
No, I was paranoid to take them to the neighbors. we ate a few and threw the rest away....
As for next month, I'll start a new thread about possible topics right now (June cookie club theme ideas). I'll copy over what I can from here, but be sure to post your ideas for a theme!
happy baking!
Bonnie
Wow, bonniebakes, those are gorgeous pansies!! They look so real.
Beautiful job. I love pansies.
Your hubby sounds like mine. Sometimes he just doesnt get it and other times he will brag up stuff that I would just as soon not talk about.
What happened to all the other cookie bakers? I was gone for a week meeting a new grandaughter and came back expecting to see lots more cookies for May. More people on strike?
