Love those pansies gramma! They're my favorite flowers too. icon_smile.gif I'm anxious to hear your comparison of the two cookie recipes!

I liked Martha's cookies too for a change. I really like the No Fail with Antonia's icing though. Guess I'll have to try Martha's with Antonia's icing too. I think No Fail are more like a shortbread than Martha's.
For the pansies, I just found an image on Google I liked and made a cardboard pattern from that. I have a load of cookie cutters but I think it is just about as easy to find something on Google to use instead.

What happened to all of the cookie bakers?! April was full and May tapered off quite a bit, it is almost June, too.

I think the "flower" theme was too restrictive and half of the April bakers made flowers already. If'n you ask me icon_confused.gif the themes should allow for more creativity, say June could be "anything but the color yellow (for example) has to be used somewhere on it", or "something you do in summer", or "anything but you have to use a round cutter", or .... icon_razz.gif

Just my thoughts.

And hey-- Where are those cookies Cake_Princess!!

That sounds interesting. Kind of like a school bulletin board They have a pretty broad theme. Some months have sayings. Do all of them? Ive proboly brought this up before. icon_confused.gif Not many days left in May though. It will be interesting to hear the new theme .Newbies jump in too! icon_smile.gif

How about a beach/ocean theme for June - in honor of the start of summer, and making it as broad as possible, the cookies can be based on anything that you can See, Do or Eat at the Beach (Ocean or Lake)

ok... here are my May flowers. I decided to make pansies. I clipped this recipe out of a magazine a few years back and I've been dying to try it because they looked so great - Mine do NOT look as good as the picture in the magazine!!!

They are a light lemon cookie with a painted sugar glaze on them.

The funniest part is that I was going to take them over to a neighbor, and my husband told me not to - he said that they "are not your best work." I told him that they are a different kind of cookie than I usually make and I explained that the 3-d petals and the painting effect was supposed to be that way. He said that no one would get that from looking at them and that compared to the kind of decorated cookies that I usually make it would just look like it was sloppy!!!

bonniebakes, I think you did an excellent job. Did you end up taking them to your neighbour?

As for next month, I'll start a new thread about possible topics right now (June cookie club theme ideas). I'll copy over what I can from here, but be sure to post your ideas for a theme!

Wow, bonniebakes, those are gorgeous pansies!! They look so real.
Beautiful job. I love pansies.
Your hubby sounds like mine. Sometimes he just doesnt get it and other times he will brag up stuff that I would just as soon not talk about.
What happened to all the other cookie bakers? I was gone for a week meeting a new grandaughter and came back expecting to see lots more cookies for May. More people on strike?
