Hi everyone, I am new to this site but have been visiting for a few days now. Everyones cakes and ideas are wonderful. I do have a question about pound cakes. I know they are a heavier cake so when you make them do they rise up enough to have a round top, or do they mostly come out flat on top? I made one the other night, actually three out of the batter, they were very good but came out flat. Just wondering if this is normal or just me. I had to freeze other two so family would not get to them yet. Next weekend I want to try making petit fours. Thanks Ruth

I've only made them in bundt or tube style pans, and they did come out flat on top, or should I say the bottom. The part that was in the pan was shaped liked the pan and the part that would be the bottom when you dump the cake out was flat or even all around.
