Oh the balls!! They just sound too good. Send the recipe this way too please. As for packaging. Try little white boxes inside treat bags that are clear and have prints on them. You could tie pink ribbon to match.

I bought some treat bags at Dollar General and used those for the packaging and used the foil twist and ribbon as closure.
This pix is before I coated them w/ chocolate .

Oh, can I have the recipe too? I've eaten several different kinds, but I just thought the recipe would be in a cookbook and never asked for it. Now, these people have moved and I don't have the recipe. icon_cry.gif

Please share!

I package them two ways.
One - small boxes, I call them truffle boxes 'cause that's the only thing I've ever bought that comes in a box like it...LOL. It fits 3 or 4, depending on how big they are. Then I have a sticker that has my logo and contact info on it...apply that to the top left area of the box, then tie a ribbon around it...I use 1/2 inch grosgrain ribbon in aqua, coordinates w/my logo. If I have a cake for a mother/grandmother/teacher, etc. I always include one of these, in a flavor different from the ordered cake, and I've gotten another order every time! Either for just cake balls, or a cake AND cake balls.

Two - those chinese take-out boxes...those little guys are perfect for a batch of cake balls, no matter how many, because you can get the boxes in different sizes. I put each cake ball in one of those mini paper cup thingys, then stack them on top of each other in a plastic, gusseted bag...it's a little more roomy and gives a little bit. Then I heat seal the top of the bag, cutting some of the bag down a little if it's too tall. (*You can use a heat gun, or buy a heat-seal gizmo, but I just bought a really cheap new curling iron ($5) and use that...I just fold over the top edge of the bag and hold the curling iron against it, the plastic melts together and seals it. It takes all of about 4 seconds!) Put that inside the box...I use the white take-out containers...then I put my sticker on the front side of the container/box, and a big white or aqua daisy, or a magnolia...both silk/artificial...on the top of the box w/hot glue. But I position it so that once done, the top of the box/flaps are covered by the flower, but they can still open the box w/out having to peel the flower off first.

People really feel like they're getting something fancy...which, I guess, they are. icon_rolleyes.gif But it's the flower on top that does the trick, for some reason. I have a local coffee shop that sells these things...they pay me $4.00 for 4/boxed....For a small take-out box...they pay me $6.95 for 8-10/boxed...and up from there. I don't even want to know what they're charging..LOL..no doubt it's quite a bit more, or it wouldn't be worth their trouble...LOL. But people buy them! The only reason I don't stop selling to the coffe shop and start charging what they do is because I don't have a storefront...it's just some extra $$ right now. The pkging for the shop doesn't have my logo/info on it, of course. And they just write on the box the name of the shop/flavor/price. But I took a large box to the hospital and our doctor's office and people order these all the time as thank-you gifts and things like that. They always ask if the cake doodles will be packaged like the one they saw. HTH! icon_smile.gif

I have only made them once, and did mine in melted milk chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate. The coating was a little thik - making them very rich, and they were a huge it. thumbs_up.gif

hey there! Just thought i'd throw this website out there for everyone. I used them for my wedding for favor boxes & loved them. Great place to buy bulk items from, and you'll note they have a HUGE selection of different items in different qualities (i went cheap). And they discount the more you buy (Great for businesses).

Hope that helps icon_smile.gif

Everyone has wanted to know about cake ball recipes... me too !! I didn't even know about these until I read this on Cake Central.com. Let alone that you break up the warm 'baked' crumbs and then mix the them with the glue (can be icing, or whatever).

I went into good ole' Google and found these sites; full of info. and some good ideas:

From Baking 911's "Ask Sarah" type in the search box ~ "Cake Balls"

From http://www.recipelink.com/gm/31/29271 ~~Fudge Rum Balls (using cake mix)

On the All Recipes.com site I found "Chocolate Covered Orange Balls"
Also: http://christmas.allrecipes.com/az/67656.asp (general information on cake balls. Be sure to read the "ratings and reviews" page... even more good ideas and tips, there.

And lastly.... http://www.homeschoolzone.com/cook/cakebox.htm
Make up a dough of cake mix, tub of cool whip, and 1 egg... then follow the rest of the directions they give.
Now that we can MAKE the cake balls.... we have all the previous links and info., given in the previous posts, to put them into their cute little packages! icon_smile.gif

Thanks.... and you're welcome. icon_smile.gif I've always been a night owl and usually work right thru the night when I've got a cake, or any other craft project, going out. DH and pets are asleep..... no phone calls to interrupt. Just isn't as easy to recoupe after the all-nighters, as it used to be several years ago.

I really liked the idea of the cake balls. I hardly ever eat cake but my DH will eat some of the cut offs as a sweet snack after supper. I end up giving some of the cut offs away to my neighbors and the rest I throw away. icon_sad.gif I NEVER throw batter away, but bake it up and then frost a little cake to take to someone, or just give as a little 'thank you'. The idea of sweet cake balls as little gifts is a "Good Thing" as Martha would say. I'm surprised that I haven't seen it on her show.

Happy Ball'in Ya'll......
