I just took a fondant class and loved the ideas but didn't care for the taste. I have been reading around and have found the recipe for the marshmallow fondant and the rolled buttercream. How do these taste in comparison?

The flavor of fondant really depends on the brand. Wilton fondant is just gross (in my opinion). I have switched to Pettinice and the difference is unbelieveable! Pettinice has a great flavor and is really easy to work with. I know others have tried Chocopan and say that it has the best flavor but it's a lot harder to work with. I haven't tried the MMF or Rolled Buttercream because I've been really happy with Pettinice. You can also flavor it with the Lorann's Oils. OHHH and I know some people mix the Pettinice with candy clay and swear that the flavor is close to Chocopan but much easier to work with. HTH!

wilton is easy to work with but doesn't taste good at all. i use Satin Ice or mmf. i've also used rolled buttercream and candyclay. they all taste much better than wilton.

I've tried both MMF & RBC..I've received a lot of positive feed back on the RBC that it taste great. But my MMF seems to be flimsy..maybe it's something I'm doing, but the taste is good. Wilton's fondant I care not to use, but I do let me customers it makes the cake look GREAT but doesn't TASTE GOOD!!!! So I use it at their request!!!!!!
