This week I had 4 cake orders and was not able to take one day off from work. So I decided to work with these hughes cakes after work from 4-10 every night. I finished a cake that was supposed to have the drawing of The Rock on top of it. Oh well, BCT has never worked for me. For this purpose I draw a pic of the item and place in front of me as I decorate the cake, of course when finished throw out the picture. This cake was finished on last Thursday and I decided to don't freeze it because did not want the colors to bleed. On Friday night I did not go to sleep as I stayed up until about 6:30 in the morning. Well, around 2 o'clock in the afternoon I decided to look at the cake and ALMOST FAINTED!, the black color outlining the drawing has bleed so bad onto the other colors that it looked disgusting, my art-work was ruined!!T his cake was for a new customer and the lady has already given me $200 for 2 cakes (the barbie on top of a sheet cake posted here yesterday) and this one. Now GOD, what do I do? As I tried to take out the bleeding black color- the cake turned into a mess and I only have 2 hours to repair it. Maybe this lady will take me to court for this disaster!! Luckily, I had a lot of BC so I scraped the top of the cake including the top border. The cake color was burgundy and I could not find it so used Hot Pink one: iced and smoothed the top and then with a toothpick traced the drawing WITHOUT having a picture in front of me (this really PANICKED me!). Thanks to GOD, I finished the drawing (which does not look like The Rock at all!!)Then I piped a crazy design border as part of the cake on the sides (basket-weaved already) have been messed up. Cake was finished twenty minutes to 4 o'clock. It's posted here, the lady liked it but good Lord...I don't wish this stress to no one.
