Hi Ya'll,

I have read through the previous posts and I an confused on the powders and dusts.

Are they like the chalks--decorating or artist? or Are they only avaliable for cake decorating supplies?

I was in JoAnns today and found the chalk, but the only dusts/powders were by the scrapbooking stuff.

Thank you for sharing!

Charli

Hi there!

You usually find them in speciality stores for cakes and baking etc, You can look on line and get them too. They are small containers of colors, powders. the dusts are flat, matt finish the lusters are shiny and glittery. the highlighters can be mixed with clear lemon extract or clear alcohol to make a paint that you can paint on fondant.

hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Some people use chalk, but that's usually for gum paste flowers are not intended to be eaten, since chalk is non-toxic, but still not considered edible.

Most of what you're seeing here is considered food grade, except I think the gold & silver petal dusts, which the gov't considers to be for decoration only, not consumption. They can pretty much only be found in cake supply stores or online.

Anything you find at Michael's may be non-toxic, but isn't edible.
