Icing for Chocolate rolled cookies

I just made a batch of Choc. rolled cookies (have made them once before and just LOVE them!) Last time I made them I used Alices Cookie Icing which tastes sooooooo good, but it does not dry to where you can stack them.

Does anyone know of a good cookie icing that is not royal and stacks? I have never tried royal but it just seems like it would not taste good. Could I use a glaze?

I'm not a big fan of Royal icing either but I did try the one that Antionia uses and it was actually pretty good with the regular sugar cookies and I think she uses the same recipe with the choc ones. Let us know what you decide and how they taste!! icon_biggrin.gif

Try the Wilton's "pour cookie icing" recipe which is the same as Toba Garrett's basically. It isn't as hard as royal but you can stack them and they dry shinier.

This icing dries to a shiny, hard finish. Great to use for icing or to outline and fill in with tip 2 or 3.

1 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
Place sugar and milk in bowl. Stir until mixed thoroughly. Add corn syrup and mix well. For filling in areas, use thinned icing (add small amounts or light corn syrup until desired consistency is reached).
