I've notice some of you have your comment option turned off.

I just saw an absolute beautiful cake went to leave a comment and couldn't. That's the second time today, so I thought I would send you a holler.

Just go to my info down to preferance and you will see it.

We want to tell you how beautiful your cakes are.

Janette,
I had the same experience .It was a three tier white cake with red satin ribbons on the base of each tier .White flowers tipped red as topper and some petals scattered around the tiers. There was no description. A simple , but very well done cake.

Great thing to bring up!
I went to leave a comment on a pic too, and wasn't able to!

Newbies make sure to let us be able to comment! It's fun to receive nice comments icon_smile.gif

I've had the same problem lately! Several cakes that knocked my socks off had the comments turned off. I can only assume they didn't realize... but I hate to think they may just not want to hear what I think! icon_lol.gif

I don't think they know. I did the same thing when I first got here. There are still tricks I've yet to learn.

If it's the same cake (he/she just uploaded that cake a few minutes ago) that I'm thinking of, then the creator of that cake did allow comments.

Also, if the voting is still going on for the April Baby Showers contest, those cakes can't be commented on, can they? I think I remember this happening once before. I wonder if that maybe what is happening.

I've had a really hard time getting pictures to load to comment on them. I have a cable modem & usually not a problem, but the past few weeks, I just can't seem to get to them. icon_confused.gif

About a week or 2 ago I noticed I hadn't gotten a comment on my new pics and found my comments seemed to have turned off on their own so this miht be what is happening to the newbies.

bkd,

I have that all the time, it's not you your system. I think it's when there are a lot of people on the site.

I try late at night or early in the morning to look at the cakes and leave comments.

Good idea! Let's do keep this going for all the newbies. I have pm'd several over the past month or so explaining to them how to "turn on" the comment feature in their profile under "my forum info", which is on the lefthand side of most every page.

Editing to say; Not one of them I pm'd knew about the feature and were very happy I took the time to pm them.

This happened to me, too. One day my comments just turned off and I had no idea until somebody sent me a pm. Thanks for pointing it out to those who might not realize!

I have noticed that before and pm'd the people and they usually had no idea. I hated the thought that they might be thinking no one liked their cakes. So glad you posted this thumbs_up.gif

Boy do I feel dumb!! I just posted to the Techies about not being able to find the place to turn on comments after grama_J mentioned to me that she wanted to comment on one of my cakes and couldn't. I swear I looked everywhere for the place to edit my profile. I must've looked at that left menu bar twenty times today.

I'm pretty good with computers but sure missed the boat on that one!!!! LOL

Many many thanks to all of you who have taken all us Newbies under your wing and turn a blind eye to our faux pas!!

Some people have comments turned off for a reason. It's the whole Gallery Member thing.

I think this post is being clarified for NEW members who might not realize that they can receive comments, not regular members who do not want to get comments from gallery supporters for whatever their reasons.

I did the same twice, but they did not change. Maybe they are a bit intimidated. icon_redface.gif

Hopefully they will change their minds.

Or Gallery Supporter, whatever it's called.

Just saying that not everyone wants comments, new or not.

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering why I wasn't getting any comments. For some reason mine got turned off on it's own. I too thank you veteran decorators for taking us newbies under your wings. I for one need all the help I can get.

I'm a Gallery Supporter and trust me when I leave a comment I'm sincere. I still handle it the way I always did before the title Gallery Supporter.

There have been many cakes I didn't leave a comment because I wasn't impressed.

I know some say you should comment for beginners to give them support.

I'm afraid I don't agree. If I see a cake that I thought was very well designed or you could tell it was very time consuming or it just blew me away, I leave a comment.
