Dear Fellow CC sisters ( and brothers),

I am attempting to assemble my first wedding cake that uses fondant!! it will be similar to this cake

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-photos_display_83_-22851.html

Not the same, but it is all fondant and has dummies between the layers and the dummies have fondant flowers in them.

Are there any tricks to stack this cake without mucking up the fondant or cracking the flowers on the dummy cake.
I guess my main concern is how to lay the cakes on top of the dummies and slide my hands out from under the cakes without killing the flowers or the bottom rim of my fondant. Are there any tricks or tools you use to make this process go smoothly??

Thanks
SAD

I would add the flowers after the cake is stacked..............I had a wedding cake like this only round........and we didn't have dummy cakes in the center.....they were on a center column construction and they put a hole through styrofoam...floral foam...and put the column through it and then just stuck the flower stems into the foam after the cake was all put together!! Definitely have a nice long spatula handy for transferring the cake...it's a lot thinner than your hands.....make sure it's a really sturdy spatula though.......set the cake halfway down with your hands and then slip a spatula under one side and slowly let that edge down with the spatula.
