Hi there, i have been making cakes for a couple of years now, i sell a few here and there, an lately thru word of mouth i have been getting more and more business. So i decided i wanted to class things up a bit and get a fancier cake stand, like the bakieries use, where you have to leave a deposit. I currently use the disposable ones i get at the cake supply store. The ones i've seen that i am interested in look like large mirrors, not fancy like those cake plateau's (i do mostly childrens cakes and want something fancier, but simple). I have looked online but cannot find them. Is it something that you buy from the hardware/home store or is it something you can get from a cake decorating supply place? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try your craft store. I know Michaels and JoAnne's has some, they're kinda spendy. Also, try ebay. You can also rent them from party rental supply stores.

It kinda looks like a cake drum and maybe they place a mirror on it? I know you can get square and round mirrors for center pieces at the craft store. I'm sorry I'm not much help but it'll be intersting to find out about it.

I had this done for my wedding. We did not have a topper and I wanted something to keep from the cake. My DH went to the local glass place and had it custom made it was only $30.00 and its huge. Heck if you want you could always etch the glass with the wedding date and charge an arm and leg for these things.

If you have a garden ridge craft store i know they have some for wedding center pieces there no more than $10.00 for the super large as i remember ....you could also try a florist since they often make center pieces for receptions

I know this is an old topic, but......
Here are some things I have used. At Walmart you can by a box of mirror tiles for about $10- for a bout 6 I think. I have used these and sometimes to give it extra height I hot glue one to a flower foam disc thingy ( ha ha...hard to explain) I hide the foam with ribbon.

I have also bought inexpensive mirrors with neat frames on them and used them as a cake base. You can look in my photos for examples.

I found some great mirrors at www.balloons-galore.net

They have some really nice sized mirrors at great prices. I've used mirrors in the past and using them to display a cake is very elegant, even if you cover it with a piping gel stained glass design.

I hope this helps!
