time consuming. My goodness before i started the wilton course i didnt know how much time went into cake decorating. I have so much more respect now for decorating cakes & for people who do it. someone said to me yesterday "they have classes for that" when i mentioned i'm taking a cake deco class. If he only knew how much time & energy it took, not to mention all the preplanning & brainstorming and worry. It takes alot of time but i'm having so much fun. I would bake a cake everyday if i had someone to give it to.

HI ALL!

I HEAR YOU. I WAS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED AS WELL. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED THOUGH. THE MORE YOU PRACTICE AND PLAY, THE EASIER AND FASTER IT GETS.

KEEP ON PLAYING

icon_smile.gif It will get better.. I am a Wilton instructor and I get that all the time. The ladies complain about the time and some say they did not think it was so messy .It is fun,and you can be very creative, thats why I love it!!! Like Dawn said the more you do the faster you get! Maybe like me typing on this computer? icon_lol.gif I am so slow! Best of luck.

HI AGAIN,

LIKE THE LAST GAL(SORRY, I DIDN'T GET YOUR NAME) I AM ALSO AN INSTRUCTOR. I DON'T TEACH THE WILTON WAY THOUGH. I FEEL LIKE THEY TAKE TOO MANY STEPS TO COMPLETE SOMETHING EASY. JUST TRY TO HAVE FUN WITH IT AND ENJOY. JUST REMEMBER, AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT'S JUST A CAKE!!!!

ALL THE BEST

Amen! Preachin' to the choir. I feel I'm a slow decorator too. I've never taken classes so I don't know the "Wilton way" of things really. I learned from my Gramma.
I used to have someone with me all the time when I did a cake because I was afraid I couldn't do it. Now it's so cool to have a little confidence now - that even though I'm slow - I CAN do this. Yea ME!
Another thing is people don't understand the cost associated with this little hobby of ours! They just picture that little 88 cent cake mix at Wal-mart and wonder why this little cake is as much as it is. I made 2 torted 8-inch cakes, one choc w/straw. , one my standard wht. and "secret" filling. Then I dipped straw. for the the top of the choc. cake and dipped the rest of the 2#'s of berries and put in a bowl and took with the cakes. I got the feeling when I charged $40 for this the people wondered $40 for what? I didn't feel that was to much. Was I wrong?
