I'm doing my 1st ever wedding cake and I have no clue how much to charge. It's going to be fondant covered with draped fondant all around. I have no clue how to drape the fondant either. She only wants it to be 3 tiers, but needs to feed 200 people. The picture she sent me looks like either 8-10-12 or 6-8-10 and that's not going to feed 200 people. Maybe I can do sheet cakes to serve to people, that's what we did at our wedding. I know I have a ton of questions, but I never expected this to be hard. I've done stacked cakes before and no problem, but I haven't done anything like this.

xandra,
You will find that the price depends on your area. In my area, cakes are cheap ($2/serving for wedding cakes, $2.15/serving for fondant covered), and in the town I work in, 45 miles away, they range from $3.50/serving to $5.00 per serving. I would check with your local bakeries to get an idea of what they charge for wedding cakes- and you definitely want to charge more for fondant. You can either do the smaller cake for decorating and sheet cakes in the kitchen to serve everyone like you stated, or do a larger tiered cake. If you do a 16, 14, and 12 tiered rounds, that should be plenty to feed everyone. Of course, it will depend upon how large the reception hall cuts the pieces. Good Luck!
