I have a 1/2 sheet thomas cake due this sat. The mother told me that she'd like me to put tracks all around the cake. Fondant is out of the price range...does any one have any ideas on how I could make them and where I could put them on the cake?

thomas will be an fbct and there willbe a sky behind him and grass around the track that he's on........I was thinking to put tracks around the sides of the cake, but would that be a lot of work??? And, how would I even do it, exactly, to make them look real?

TIA!!!!!

How about if you used black shoestring licorice and cut it into strips to make the tracks? They would probably work along the sides of the cake, or what about along the cake board if you have room?

Hi there!

I have used the licorice. It is really quick and inexpensive. You can also pipe them out of buttercream. I have piped them with the tip 47. Smooth side up. they look quite cute.

Hope this helps,
good luck
