Oh, that was definitely an era to remember. Let's see - the birth of MTV, Ronald Regan was President, Punk Rock, Duran Duran, The A-Team and other police/mystery shows, The Dukes of Hazzard, Bobby Brown, Kokomo by the Beach Boys, hair bands, the birth of the Simpsons, Just Say No, Moonlighting (Bruce Willis), banana and butterfly hair clips, and gel shoes. Michael Jackson. We Are The World. And don't forget the surfer hair styles and coloring.

What is the cake for? If it's a birthday how old was the person during those years, that would have alot to do with what theme.

Remember the awful spandex pants? And the old Apples?

khalstead -

If that was your childhood, I'm old enough to be your mother!

And I forgot to mention - the first space shuttle launch, 1981.

Video Killed The Radio Star - The Buggles

The second video played was Lunatic Fringe, by Red Rider.

In front of MTV - back then, that was the best place to give my son his education in Classic Rock.

I still wear my sunglasses at night!!! icon_cool.gif My big hair days have turned a little quieter. My Cabbage Patch doll still sits on the top shelf of my closet. And I took the stickers off of my rubic's cube. Ahhhh those were the days. Hey don't forget the famous General Hospital wedding. icon_redface.gif and Black Trans Ams too. fun going down memory lane. That gives me an idea for a practice cake.

I had an 80s theme for my birthday once.

We made a round cake and cut out a triangular piece, then frosted it to look like pac-man. We made blue cupcakes to represent the little things he eats in the game and we had them going around the table.
You could add the ghosts, as well.

It was reaaallly cute.

wearing several gaudy necklaces at once. delicate Mr. T look

Lets not forget the "how high can you go" bang look. Bangs that looked like you painted on your hairspray then ran into a brick wall when it was still wet. To add to the "wall effect" the bow we had in our hair was slightly to the side making it look like you really ran into the wall.

how about the lacy ankle socks with high heals.

Big ear rings.

Ohhh can't forget Gorgeous George Michael. Before he came out of the closet.

Rod Stewart "If you think I'm Sexy"

I'm laughing at all the memories this thread brought back.

THANKS, I love it!

If I might add just one more...

What are the 80's with our Nintendo and Super Mario?
I think that would be a cool cake, nintendo box with controler oh and maybe some funky 80's jewlery hangin off of it. Maybe a trapper keeper next to it or under the controller.

Yes they did come out then but they did get a terrific 80's update into the white body with a black and pink detail.

Boy was I upset when i realized I was using a light bulb to cook my brownie. But I got a choice of cooking my brownie on low or high...either which way was slower then grass growin.

ohhhhhh.... I loved Fraggle Rock and the Muppets. Loved the ones on Muppets the best. I love Animal and Fozzy Bear. I carried a Fozzy bear in my car.

Someone mention Trans Am earlier. I wanted a black one soooooo badly! Dad thought they were too souped up for a girl. Ironically I ended up with a Mustang. (sheesh) The closest thing I came to having a Trans Am was when it ran into me from behind. The last thing I seen in my rear view mirror was the words "Ma Snart" and now that's all I think of when I see one. It wasn't funny then but I laugh about it now when I see a "Ma Snart" on the road...And I still want one.

May be she's like my kids. We still play '80's music. My husband and I can't seem to get that decade out of our systems, so of course my kid's like a lot of '80's stuff. And believe me the music is still hanging around with today's kids.

So start looking for your leg warmers, seems like that fashion is coming back icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif
