Tonight I am doing all the decorating - wish me luck!! (I'm supposed to be working but I'm on here instead) shhh.gif

I'll try to post a pic tomorrow - gosh I hope it comes out good. I'm never nervous baking the actual cake, its the decorating that I get jitters about and worried it will be a disaster and it will look awful.

My wonderful MIL is coming over to watch the little one so I can concentrate fully on this, bless her heart thumbs_up.gif

Post the pics as soon as you can thumbs_up.gif

I havent been able to find the cross pan anywhere,,, so i might not be able to do that idea. someone told me to carve out the cross from a 1/2 sheet.. but i dont know about that. it would be hard to ice with all the crumbs? well, well see what happens!!

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

You can ice a cut cake as long as you crumb coat it. I have had some real bad cake batters and the cake literally fell apart, when I tried to ice I had crumbs all the cake. So I took the tie to crumb coat it and it really works!!!

I hate those nasty crumbs icon_evil.gif

You could try the crumb coat. If you lived closed I'd loan you my cross pan icon_biggrin.gif

Just an idea I'm throwing out..... what about some type of thin, thin glaze to pour over then ice it. Would that seal in the crumbs?

Joshsmom,

Happy Baking on your cake! You'll do fine! I never get nervous on the decorating part, I'm always nervous on the baking part! If I can get it out of the oven with no mishaps everything else is usually smooth sailing~ I still have disasters though!

Momof3.

Just freeze your cake about 30 min. & cut it. It will work perfectly!
