Hey Cookie Addicts,
Only one more week left in the month of April that means we need some ideas for May. Please post your ideas here for the month of May. Then we can vote on the cookie theme for May. If possible try to post ideas before May 1st.

Also thanks for supporting this idea the cookies so far have been amazing. Keep it up guys.

P.S. Don't let Zamode try to get you on her cookie strike. thumbsdown.gif

I like Helen's suggestion in the other thread... I was about to PM you to suggest it when I read her post.

"April Showers bring... MAY FLOWERS."

Thanks Bonnie, I was going to copy Antonia's suggestion over here but I had to leave. Thanks again for posting it.

Friday night I thought about making this post but I got side-tracked. LOL, I was actually going to PM you and and ask you if you wanted to make this your pet project. icon_biggrin.gif

Moving Kos' suggestion:

PostPosted: Sun Apr 23, 2006 12:04 pm
There are a few flowers done already for Spring.

What about things that start with the letter "M" for May, (cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Medals {for those of us with school kids doing award ceremonies}, mortarboard {graduations}, mermaids {because I have a mermaid party to do for my daughter Laughing } to name a few)

Spring always makes me think of new life - grass turning green, flowers blooming, baby animals, trees budding, or maybe a new grandbaby like my little Lily. icon_biggrin.gif

I haven't tried cookies yet either, but they look like fun. I have decided to GO FOR IT and make my kids' teachers cookie bouquets for their end of the year gifts. thumbs_up.gif

Asupergirl - it's a "cookie club" (kind of like a book club, but with cookies centering around a particular theme for the month). Here's the quote from the "April cookie theme" thread that Cake_Princess wrote. It should explain it all!

Quote:
Quote:

OK gang,
I know how long you have been waiting for this so here it is. Our first official monthly cookie theme.

April's Theme: Spring/April Showers

So remember, the group decided that all pictures must be new pictures (and new cookies). Meaning if you have a previous group of cookies already in your album (or in the forum) even if it depicts the theme you cannot use it. The idea of the monthly theme is to get our creative juices/new ideas flowing.

Use any medium to decorate your cookies. Fondant, royal icing, buttercream etc. The only stipulation is it has to be a medium used in cookie or cake decorating. So no play doh!!

Post pictures in this thread (Do not create a separate thread for your pics). Maximum of 3 pictures per person. You may however use graphics programs to create ONE collage of different pics/angles.

In your post please let us know which medium you used to decorate your Cookies. Also, if you could please let us know why you chose the design you did if the reason is not obvious. (For Example if the theme was Music and you made ghost cookies then let us know the connection. Ghost = Phantom and Phantom of the opera relates to music).

Have fun being creative. Look forward to seeing all your work.

Once again thank you all for showing more interest in this little project than I expected.

And before I forget to mention it, Bonniebakes has offered to help out with our little group. So feel free to ask her any questions as well.

Cake Princess

Edit:
I may have forgotten to post this here but it was in the cookie club thread. Please do not post monthly theme cookies to your personal album or cookie Gallery until after the monthly theme has expired. The reason for this is, as a group we all decided each picture must be new and not previously uploaded to the Galleries. Seeing that we have no way of knowing when pictures were uploaded this will help to prevent any squabbles about people using previously uploaded pictures.

I do apologize for overlooking this detail. I forgot to post it here, I guess I just assumed everyone read the original Cookie Club thread.

I think of kites, flowers, flower pots, baby animals and spring when I think about May. Hope these ideas help. Also, what about Mothers Day? I will have my cookies done for Aprils theme tomorrow and posted by the afternoon. This is my first time with cut cookies and have been nervous about trying after seeing everyone elses work. But, dh said I will never learn if I don't try so we will see what happens.

We are all still learning so don't be a-skeered. (well, except for Helen and Cake_Princess, and oh, Mac, and um, well, a whole bunch of others) I made cookies today and started decorating them for a baby shower. I may have to leave Zamode in the cookie-protest- march and start baking more! (sorry Zamode) icon_lol.gif I actually had a batch of icing with NO AIR BUBBLES!! icon_surprised.gif Thanks Helen and Cake-Princess for your icing knowlege and cindy6250 for the tip on burying your decorating tip in icing. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

Can't wait to see your cookies crafts3!!

Ok, everyone, I just thought it might be helpful to have a recap of the suggestions so far for May's cookie theme. Sorry if I've missed any, I didn't intentionally leave any out (except for Zamode's "no cookies" theme idea - sorry Zamode, happy striking to you!)

May cookie club theme ideas (so far):

kites*
flowers*
flower pots
baby animals*
mother's day
wind
racing
"M" things
grass turning green
trees budding
aquatic things
summer
(edited to add) graduation

(* = suggested more than once)

Any other ideas that come to mind? thoughts or opinions on any of the ideas already mentioned?

Hi everyone! I'm new and I have been reading all these posts and I must say its wonderful to know there are so many cake-cookie addicts like myself. thumbs_up.gif

Anyhow, just wanted to say I love the flowers idea for May. I think there are many ways you can go about decorating flower cookies (realistic, abstract, cutsie) not to mention there are tons of varieties of flowers!

Can't wait to hear what theme you end up choosing. Its going to be a fun way to get me to come up with some new designs!

Take care everyone & keep up the awesome work! (I think I spent like 3 hours last night just looking at the gallery!) icon_biggrin.gif

Hello eveyone!

The April cookies were SO awesome! It's almost time for a new cookie club theme!

"Flowers" seems to be the most requested/suggested them for the month of May so far. Any other ideas or thoughts to share before May begins?
