Hi everyone...I have a friend that belongs to this group (sistersinsweets)
and she told me about the help and neat ideas offered here....I came , I looked around, I JOINED!!!!!
I live in Pennsylvania, USA, I'm married 38yrs. have 5 kids...all grown except for the baby of the family...and he'll be a senior in high school next yr.
Last spring I took the Wilton cake decorating courses...all 3 of them... I made my daughters wedding cake in June... I was scared to death...but it turned out very nice...
I've always liked baking and I love doing cakes.....I wish I could get that nice smoothe finished look though... I usually do the basket weave as it hides all the imperfections...LOL..
I've been reading alot here in the forums and I've picked up some good tips that I'm going to be using....
I have another wedding cake to make this August. I don't think I would want to do this for a living as it's very stressful....What is a good way to price a cake....This is for a relative so I'm only going for the cost and delivery of the cake...
...but what would be a fair price if I made it for someone else.... it's a 3 tier cake 6" 10" 14" all 2 layers...and 8 8" single layers around the bottom....
enough gabbing for me now...lol...
Looking forward to getting to know all of you...
Happy baking...

Just kidding, I got a late start and the last one was a bit of a surprise, albeit a pleasant one. I wouldn't trade my babies for anything.

Welcome to the forum. I have two kids; a boy and a girl. My son is 2 years and my daughter is 9 months; yes, they are only a year and a half apart. I, too, ask myself "what was I thinking?" We were not planning on having kids before I was 30, but we got a big surprise...and then another one. I just hope that I don't have another surprise for a couple of years at least...although my kids mean the world to me.
I dont' feel so bad now. I've been married 31 years and have a 29 and 26 year old. With all the young people on this site, I was starting to feel old real fast. Glad to see there's someone else out there in my age group. Welcome to the site.
Hi and welcome. I'm 37, married to the most wonderful and supporting husband who never gets tired of listening to my daily experiences as a stay at home mom, and we have a beautiful 22 month old girl.
I'm sure you'll find this site and its members very helpful.

Hi there, glad to have you aboard! Sure sounds as if I am the old lady of the bunch here, I'm 68 (much too rapidly headed toward 69), was married for 28 years and divorced for 22 yrs now. My son and daughter-in-law were both almost 40 when my grandson was born, he will be 9 in July, so they definitely got a late start!
I'm enjoying the cake decorating and all the people here at CC, they are great, always willing to share, to commiserate over problems, and very encouraging at all times! Janice

Hi! I'm Carol. I'm 53 and mother of three great kids. Dave and I will be married 36 years June 28th. My second pregnancy wasn't a surprise but having twins (boy/girl) sure was(I'm talking BIG surprise here!) . My oldest was 2 1/2 at the time and a great and helpful big brother. I was 23 at the time. (I got married at 17) They're 33, 31 and 31 now and every day a blessing. Soo for those of you young moms out there we've been there and done that so it's just your turn. It goes by so quickly just enjoy it as much as you can. I have two beautiful and thrilling granddaughters just down the road so here we go again.
I'm an amature cake decorator and mostly self taught. I love this site and all the helpful friendly people here. I've gained a lot of confidence at trying new things since joining. There just isn't enough time or money, is there? I appreciate everyone's input and the prompt responses to questions. If there was a chat on this site I'd never get ANYTHING done. LOL Welcome to all the Newbies! You already love it, I can tell. So let's bake something already!! Ü
WELCOME. I AM THE MOM OF A GIRL WHO IN 29 DAYS AS SHE KEEPS COUNTING DOWN TO HER BIRTHDAY WILL BE 9 AND A BOY WHO IS 5. I AM 34 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN DECORATING CAKES SINCE I WAS 17. IT STARTED OUT AS ICE CREAM CAKES AS A SUMMER JOB AND GREW TO 16 YEARS LATER NOW BAKING CAKES AND DECORATING CAKES INSTEAD OF ICE CREAM CAKES. I LOVE IT! I MAKE MYSELF NUTS AND MY FAMILY TOO, BUT I ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT. MY HUSBAND STANDS BEHIND EVERYTHING I DO AND SUPPORTS ALL OF MY CRAZINESS - BECAUSE SOMETIMES IT DOES GET CRAZY AROUND HERE AND I DON'T KNOW IF I AM COMING OR GOING. MY PANS HAVE OUTGROWN MY KITCHEN AND HAVE STARTED GROWING IN THE DINING ROOM. HOPEFULLY THIS SUMMER WE WILL GET MY PEG BOARD GOING FOR MY PANS AND SOMETIME THE HOUSE WILL BE ORGANIZED FOR MY CAKE STUFF.
