I tried the recipe for the Champagne cake on here hoping to find a cake that isn't too sweet... It came out with a very strong "yeast" taste.

Is it the champagne or did I do something wrong? detective.gif

Bodaisy,

This is the recipe that I used:

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup champagne
6 egg whites

I used Brut sparkling wine... I've read in some previous posts that this yeast taste is normal in this cake? Hmmmm.

not sure, but the recipe I have contains no baking powder..
it's one box of cake mix
2 envelopes of dream whip
4 egg whites
1 whole egg
1/4 c vegetable oil
1 1/4 cup flat champagne.

the recipe calls for asti spumante.. I used a champagne in between asti and grand spumante.
it's called Brio it's an Italian champagne.

this is NOt my recipe, DiscoLady was kind enough to pass it along. It was AWESOME!! the champagne taste was Not strong at all, but noticeable. Hope this helps
