I will be making a cake next week to look like a cordoury fishing hat (no one wants fondant, which would be alot easier). Instead of making the icing smooth, I want to replicate the material on the hat.......any suggestions?

Right off the top of my head i think of a impression mat that I saw on cakes by sam.com. It's a line impression mat, makes perfect ridges....maybe that would work??

Thanks, why didn't I think of impression mats! Too bad I could not use real cordoury pieces instead of the viva towels......wonder if I spritz them with water, if they would not stick to the icing....... icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh, wow, yeah!!! Do you think it would work to lay either a sheet of waxed paper or plastic wrap down first and then press in the fabric???
