I just use my normal BC recipe (which contains 1/2 Crisco, 1/2 butter) and add melted chocolate chips.

It makes a nice dark crusting BC. Just melt some chocolate chips. I usually let them cool a bit even though they aren't really all that hot to begin with, then I just add it last to my normal BC recipe.

It is so yummy!

By the way, I sometimes also add a touch of Bavarian Cream flavoring to both the regular recipe and to the chocolate BC. Mmmmmmmm!

I just add cocoa to mine and add some kind of liquid (milk, water, etc.) to account for the extra dry ingredients.

luv2cake,
just wondering, how much chocolate do you add?

Good point pinkpossum! I usually eyeball it. I usually make a double batch of BC in my KA and I normally will melt 3/4 bag of chocolate chips. You can start with less and add more as you desire. I usually add more because I like the darker color.

I also always use milk in my BC and I think it makes it creamier. It does take a little more milk than usual because the chocolate thickens it up a bit.

I just wanted to add a caution here when using chocolate chips. Although it will work to use chocoalte chips and it does taste good, you should use bar chocolate for frostings. Chocolate chips are made to withstand heat and not melt, having a tighter consistency than bar chocolate, which results in a frosting that is not as creamy as it could be. Of course everyone has their preferances, but I would recommend using bar chocalate!
