I have been asked to make a Tulip shaped cake and the colour they have requested is burgandy. My question is, if using Wilton burgandy, should I start with a chocolate based buttercream?

I do plan on visiting a local shop on Friday that I know carries the CC popular Americolor. Should I purchase a bottle of this instead?

Advice is greatly needed.

Thanks!!

I made some burgundy roses last month. The color mixing info I found said to mix 5 parts red with 1 part violet. Starting with a chocolate base might make the color a bit too dark. Is there any way you could do some small sample mixing in the icings?

Hope this helps, and good luck icon_biggrin.gif
