How do you use an angled spatula? Looked easy when instructor used it but when I decorated my first cake I could not even the bc icing on it to save my life?

I bought it and use it only to spread icing on large cakes ... I don't worry about perfection with the spatula because I use a viva paper towel to smooth out my cakes ...I get better results with that than any spatula I could ever use

I went out and bought a plastic putty knife this weekend. It works great! Super smooth finish and made it even (something I struggle with!)

Hope this helps

I think whether it was angled or not. I couldn't ice my first cake for the life of me. It takes a lot of practice. Now I can't ice a cake without my angled spatula. (small one) The big one I never really use. I probably still can't ice a cake with it. The small angled spatula is my #1 tool!!!!!

I definately have to crumb coat to get my icing right. I use the angled spatula.
