Pink Cakes With Brown Or Chocolate Scrollwork?
Decorating By lainee Updated 19 Apr 2006 , 12:24pm by lainee
I was browsing through the gallery and saw some very pretty pink cakes with dark brown scrollwork. I was wondering if most people use buttercream for the scrollwork, or is it melted chocolate? It's very pretty, I hope to one day, be able to duplicate it. There were at least 3 or 4 cakes with the similar design out there, but here is the link to one so you can see what I'm talking about:

Also is it pink buttercream or pink fondant?
TIA,
Lainee
Lainee, that cake is beautiful and it definitely looks like buttercream. why don't you pm jjcakes and see if you get a response on the scrollwork question. Kind of looks like royal icing but i'm not an expert.
Reenie I thought it looked like buttercream too, but I saw another one, that I beleive was fondant, so I thought I'd ask.
Bush1 I don't know why I didn't think to PM jjcakes. I think I'm half asleep.
Thank you both for the responses.
Definately covered in buttercream with those nice sharp edges. I would also be interested in what she used for the scroll work. It is a really lovely cake, and this from someone who is not crazy about pink.
Thanks for the comments on my cake! It is buttercream and the scrollwork is actually just canned fudge frosting. Couldn't be easier!
