How To ---- Antonia74's Large Cupcake Stand - Page 4

How much ribbon does it take to change the color on all of the boxes?

Very good question! thumbs_up.gif

It takes about 28 feet of ribbon.......26 feet exactly, but then just a few extra inches on each tier for overlapping/attaching it to itself.)

Do you just attach the ribbon with double sided tape? I would assume any type of glue would destroy the finish for future uses?

No, I use UHU brand removable adhesive putty. It's the white putty that people use to stick posters to the wall without using tape or marking up the wall surface. Works really well! It not only doesn't harm the paint, but you can also re-use the ribbon too. You can find it in the office supply section of stores. It's pretty common.

One hint though...get the brand that is white, not blue! I stained the stand with the blue putty last year on a hot summer day and had to re-paint it! icon_cry.gif

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but if I borrow your stand idea and want to post a picture of a cupcake cake displayed on it on my website, (not the directions for the stand, just a picture of a cake on it) would you rather I not do that, or give you credit for the stand?

No,no...not at all! (Thanks very much for thinking of that though!) The stand is not my original design at all. It was seen in a Martha Stewart Weddings magazine years ago and I took the photo to a carpenter to have him re-create it.)

Whatever stand you create from these instructions is 100% your own property. icon_smile.gif No need at all to credit me, but very thoughtful of you to offer!

The only reason I put the little note on my original posting was that I had a member from CC take the whole posting, (including my photos!) and post the whole thing under another name as her OWN little lesson on a bridal wedding board. When I complained to the administration of that board that they were my photos & info stolen from CC, that member denied it, called me a liar and then realized who I was and immediately removed it. I was so shocked at her rudeness! icon_eek.gif

This is such a great idea!

Not sure if this is a "dumb" question or not but...
You get those back after a party right?

Thank you so much for sharing, Antonia. That's so generous of you to do that icon_smile.gif

Thank you very much for sharing. Your stand is beautiful. I am just starting to learn cake decorating so that it can become a possible career for the future when my kids are a little older. I will definately be having my husband make me one of these.

They are 4 hollow boxes...but when they are turned upside down they can be placed one inside the next, like one of those Russian dolls! icon_lol.gif

But the sides don't fold down, no. The smallest this will get, when all the boxes are stored inside one another is 3 feet square x about 8 inches tall
