Antonia, if I might add, it is difficult to see in the picture, and I don't remember if anyone mentioned this in the 8 pages of this thread, but if you want to make this stand it looks most professional if you make the joints on the side with a miter saw as opposed to a butt joint. My husband and I started this project this week and we made the small box by butting the joints. The next day I had the idea to make the sides mitered. It look so much better we are going to rebuild the smallest one.

I can't wait to use my stand! Thank you SO much for sharing this with us! icon_biggrin.gif

I know the stand can hold 144 cupcakes, but can anyone tell me how many can fit on each tier? Thanks!

It really depends upon the size of your cupcakes as to how many you can fit on there. Some people have smaller "large" size cupcakes than others. If you don't use big swirls of icing on top that extend past the cupcake's width, you can cram them in closer together to add even more.

You can see the layout more clearly on these pics. (The blueberry cupcake display didn't require that we use the missing bottom tier, but the top ones are full. In the aqua cupcake display we only used 48 on the middle tier....but you get the idea for positioning!icon_lol.gif)

Usually, it can fit comfortably.....

4 on the top tier
12 on the 2nd tier
48 - 56 on the 3rd tier
72 - 80 on the bottom tier

HI everyone,

I am trying tomake a small version of this stand for next week by myself. I know I can do this but I need some help. I have my mdf board cut. I used 1/4 inch. My son has sanded down the sides for me and now I am ready to assemble. Going back to the pictures that everyone has provided it appears there are some wood frames inside at those regular stud boards? Sorry for the tool talk but I need help!
If the answer is yes those are studs, then are you drilling or nailing those in? Are you glueing them together? Thanks for your help I am really looking forward to getting these done.

Omgoodness, Thank you Antonia74!! This is absolutely so cool. I love it! I'm going to see if my neighbor will build me one. I think if he can build a porch for his backyard then this will be a piece of cake, lol. Thank you again for your willingness to share icon_smile.gif

I'm new to CC and just found the cupcake stand instructions that you so generously gave to so many. I just want to thank you for being so generous to all of us and encouraging us to build this even if we don't have handy husbands /boyfriends. I am blessed to have a handy husband and hope that we can find the time to build something like this---it's amazing. I have also seen your work-website- and you are very talented!!! Thank you again...

I just made this stand for a 100 cupcake display. I only made the top 3 boxes, the bottom would have been too much for 100 cupcakes. I did almost all the work myself, my husband helped screw the boxes together, I needed extra hands. I used material to cover mine in the school colors. I think it turned out really nice. its in my pics. Thanks so much antonia74 for the insperation and instructions.

All I can say is "holy mother of batman!" antonia74, I just read the entire thread, and you have been thanked so much, I feel my "thank you" would just be repetitive. I just want to say that I spent an entire afternoon searching on different ways to make a cupcake stand. Literallyuntil my eyes were bugging out of my head. There are some great ideas out there, but nothing with good directions/measurements.

Thisisperfect!

People like you make the learning curve of amateur bakers like myself just a little bit easier. It is priceless, and I thank you.

Just a quick tip, this isn't really good for professional orders, but it's perfect for friends and family. I take 3 different sizes of cake board (usually doubled or tripled up), with the bottom board always being plywood. I buy those huge hominy cans from food city (or store of choice), then I cover everything in food grade decorative foil wrap, then stack it. It's cheap, quick, works perfectly, and holds a ton of cupcakes!! Check out the cupcake tower pic in my gallery if you wanna see.
