Hey everyone,
I don't really know where else to go for help. The design we have in mind is not a true cake. We rented a chocolate fountain and for the "cake" my fiance and I want a pyramid of strawberries. My question is how to support it. I have seen tiered supports for cupcake cakes, but nothing for strawberries. Any thoughts would be soooo great. thanks

maybe you could put together those plastic stairs that you see with the cakes and pack the strawberries on those. Maybe you could hold them together by attaching royal icing to them. Do you know what a crocenbushe(sp) is? Get some ideas from that.

I have never done one so I am just thinking perhaps you could use styrofoam and cover it in chocolate and attach the strawberries with fancy toothpicks?

Get a styrofoam cone and use skewers (you will probably need to cut them unless you can find some heavy duty toothpicks) to stick the berries into the foam. It's very pretty. I think if you look in the gallery there are examples of this presentation--they look like topiaries.

Edited to add this link (which I hope works): http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=favpics&cat=0&pos=-14124

Maybe you could use those styrofoam dummies in different sizes and cover them with some sort of cloth or something or maybe even contact paper. Then you would have a tierd look and use the styrofoam to "stack the strawberries on and up to the nest level and so on until you got to the top? Don't know but just what popped into my head when I read your post. icon_smile.gif

This strawberry tree from Paula Deen might give you some ideas. Or at least give you the mechanics of achieving the pyramid look you're after.
Goodluck!
