So I'm doing a wedding in June and initially when I talked to the Bride (about a month ago) She wanted a very simple small wedding cake and 4 sheets cakes to serve to her guest....I told her I was going to charge about $250 (give or take) for the cost of the supplies, delivery, and set up. NOW, A month later, she wants me to include a grooms cake and also wants me to serve the sheet cakes.....how much extra should I charge? I don't want to overprice her but I want to feel like my time and talent was worth something!! Any suggestions would be appreciated!! THANKS!

For me, depending on how far away, the delivery/setup fee begins at $25. If it is more that 20 miles, I add $10 or more.

For serving, I charge $25/hour- for the entire time I am there. So, if I have to hang around while they have dinner etc, I get paid. She can easily have a friend serve the sheet cakes, so don't do if for free.

As for the grooms cake, it depends on what she wants. But normally, it is a per serving fee.

I agree with the $25 serving charge. About delivery/setup, I have found that people prefer when this is included in the price (I did consultations for wedding planning where we subcontracted cakes) and for a distance of say 20 miles or more, then adding a fee. I found that clients feel more secure with less added-on charges and like to pay just one price, this way they are not afraid of any more charges, even if you don't intend on any. It's some type of psychological thing that eventhough they are paying a delivery fee when it is included in the overall price, they feel as though they are getting something for free - it just makes people more comfortable. As for the groom's cake, charge by serving size. Good luck!
