After much discussion, it looks like we are looking to re-name cake balls, to something a little more business friendly sounding (and to cause less snickering among us sick minded people )
Probably next week some time I'm thinking....but I think we can keep this going for a little while yet.
what is a cake ball in the first place???? mmmmm not a term I know of here in Australia...... although my imagination is telling me many things.lol
tell me or show me what it is and then I will love to have a vote...
I forgot who came up with the recipe so I can't credit them but here's the recipe!
Cake Balls
2 cups crumbled cake scraps
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder (if cake scraps are not chocolate based)
1/4 cup chopped almonnds (or any other nut you like, or mini-chocolate chips, or M&Ms, you get the idea!)
2 generous shots of amaretto (or any other liquer you may like, a good non-alcohol substitution is any flavored coffee creamer)
Put all ingredients in a mixer and mix on medium speed until the ingedients form a ball. If the mixture seems too dry, add a bit more of the liquid used to make it moist enough to form into balls.
I use a tablespoon cookie scoop to make the balls uniform in size. Roll the scooped dough in your hands to form a nice smooth ball. Allow cake balls to set on a parchment lined cookie sheet for a couple of hours, then dip them in chocolate(following) or roll them in confectioners' sugar or cocoa.
Melt 1 lb. of candy melts and add approximately a tablespoons of crisco to make it a bit more smooth. Also, put the container (in my case, a pyrex measuring cup) of melted candy melts in a very hot (I use amost boiling) water bath to keep the chocolate fluid. dip balls into the chocolate using a spoon and a dipping fork (in my case, a plastic fork with the two middle tines cut out) Don't worry if the dipped balls have a "foot" at the base after drying. You can break some off after they have hardened and once they are in the little cake liners, no one will notice. Also, you can decorate the tops with just about anything, sprinkles, candy confetti, chopped nuts, etc. before they dry. Or after they've dried, pipe designs with royal icing or melted candy melts of differnet colors!

p.s. My vote is for cake bites or cake nibbles
thanks for the explanation ..... no not what I thought they were
Now that I know what they are I can understand why you want to change the name.
My vote is for
CAKE BITES
karen
Cake bites has my vote.
Personally I called them "cake dangles". At a family gathering they assumed it was for them hanging over the chocolate when I covered them. I couldn't tell them what they were actually called. I knew where their minds would go in a group of cattle/farm owners. I know it's not apart of the poll but "diet suicide pills" was the other one I used. ohhhhhh they are sooooo rich and will kill any diet in one bite.
I made some for the first time this weekend - BIG hit, and nice use for the 'scraps'. Though I must admit my dipping was not pretty !
I join mikaza - I like Cake Bon-Bons!
Cake Bon Bon's is my favorite, but it's not on the list!!
I guess Cake Bites will be my 2nd choice.
THANK YOU for doing this! I made my first Cake Whatevers last week and everytime DH ate one he snickered. Also, that tells you how good these are. DH is a pretty diehard Atkins guy. But he'll make an exception for Cake ______s.
My mom forbid us to call them "cake balls" and insisted on the name Cake truffles...that's where my vote lies.
Cake bites are ok too......

Woohoo, my first pick in the other long thread was Cake Bites. I like that one!
