Okay been researching and looking at these things and I think this one might be what I need but I would really like your input before deciding. If you wouldn't mind telling me the pros and cons of this model I would really appreciate it. I showed hubby the initial thread I started asking "why kitchen aid" and he was somewhat impressed by support of this maufacturer although as he said he knows nothing about this stuff and neither do I. Here is the link;

I can't believe I am even contemplating this!!! icon_sad.gif

I do not have that one but I do have the professional one and I LOVE it. The motor is loud, but it does a great job for bread, cookies, cake mix, frosting, etc.

I love mine! I debated, posted, researched a year ago between the slightly smaller tilt and the bigger professional model. Didn't want to spend more money. I got a gift certificate as a gift so I went for the larger one. I have not regretted it for a second! Amazing machines.
A little loud but well worth it. I use mine daily. If you make many cakes at all - get the largest one you can afford. Bed bath and beyond and linens n things offer 20 percent off coupons about every week. When I bought mine they were also offereing a rebate and a free extra bowl with it so it wound up being the best deal I could find. The first one started making a little bit of a strange noise after about 2 weeks. I called the kitchen-aid number and let them listen to it over the phone. It was still working fine but they sent me another one out in 3 days - no questions asked. They didn't ask for a receipt or when I bought it or anything. They just replaced it immediately. Can't beat that. The new one is awesome. I can make triple batches of everything. Well worth it. Within a year the smaller one would have been too small for me. I do about 10 cakes a week or so on average. Most are on the weekend though so I can mix up large batches of the same flavors and of the frostings at the same time.

I don't have that model, but a Kitchen Aid stand mixer is worth the money for sure!!!! If you have a Sam's Club or Costco near you, check there as well. They have these sometimes at a great price. I know our Costco has one right now for $260, and it's one of the really expensive ones.

I have a KA that is 12 or 14 yrs old and I love it. It is only the 4.5 qt. but it is great. I also have a Delongi 7 qt. and I love it too. You will not regret splurging for the KA!!!!!!!!!! You will wonder how you ever got by without it. My mom in law has a KA that is over 25 yrs old!!!!!! She also has the 5 qt model KA that has the bowl that lowers and raises instead of tilt head. We both like the tilt head better. It is sooooo much easier to get in and scrape the bowl. Hope this helps.

If you are going to make the investement in a KA, go for the bigger one. It is a bigger investement but well worth it in the long run. I miss not having the tilt head on the bigger model. But, I get way more use out of the bigger model then the smaller one. Especially, when I make marshmallows. The bigger model is heavier (both in weight and motor) and holds up better when making thicker recipes such as fudge. I agree on the noise aspect, they run a little loud. But I will take the noise anyday over hand mixing. I make my fondant from scratch and could not imagine doing it by hand.

May you enjoy being the owner of one the greatest kitchen inventions.

I have the professional KA and love it. I can do 3 cake mixes at once. It is a little noisy but I love the power it has. I had the artisian and thought it was the greatest thing in the world until I got the professional. Now my daughter is the proud owner of the artisian and loves it.

Tiggy2...you say you do 3 cake mixes at a time? How does that work...do you notice any difference. I had read to only mix 2 at a time, but always have wished I could dump all 3 at once. Do you adjust the recipe any? I have the KA 600 Professional...loooovvvveee ittttt!!! Regardless what model you buy, get KA! You won't regret it! thumbs_up.gif

I have the professional 6 qt one and I love it... I was thinking of the smaller one but knowing how I am I would get it and then want the bigger one... I just went for it... as was said before, it is a bit loud but definitely worth every penny
