I'M MAKING A WHIMSY CAKE FOR MY DAUGHTERS 7TH BDAY. THIS IS ONLY MY SECOND TIME WITH FONDANT. THE FIRST, I USED IT WHITE. CAN ANYONE PLEASE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I HAVE BOTH THE WILTON COLORS AND SOME AMERICOLORS. I NEED BRIGHT PINKS TEAL, AND BRIGHT ORANGE. IS IT OK TO USE THESE PASTE COLORS FOR FONDANT? I MAY USE BOTH SATIN ICE AND MMF. THANKS RENEE

Sure, you can use either Wilton or Americolors. I normally warm up my MMF to make it soft, so it easier to knead the color in. I just put it in the microwave for about 5-10 secs at a time until it has soften enough to knead easily.

The light bulb in my head suddenly went onicon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif !!!!! I now know what the disposable gloves that came in my Wilton caddy are probably used for! Kneading color into fondant they would keep the colors from staining your hands?! As you can tell I have never done fondant!!!!

I use the food processor to mix the colour in the rolled fondant. Makes it soo much easier! It takes forever to get an even colour and I'm soo impatient! The fondant gets soft and warmed with all the whirling. Just let it rest and cool down. I agree Wilton colours can get nasty on the hands; Americolor doesn't seem to do it though.
