Making my Easter lilies this late in the game is now a moot poing. Soooo, anyone know a trick to piping a cala lily? I would be most happy to hear it. Why oh why do I wait to the last minute to get inspired???

A friend let me borrow an old book of hers recently and it had the directions for piping a calla lily. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks fairly simple. Use a 124 (or any large straight petal tip, I would think), heavy end on the surface and the narrow end up slightly. First, pipe a slight curve upward and to the right, approx. 2 inches long. As you near the end, pivot the tip like you would when making a violet or pansy petal, and follow the curve back to your starting point again. As you reach the original starting point, bring your tip to 90 degrees to make your petal edge stand up. Then use a 3 for your green stem and a 67 for your leaf. If you make the leaf starting from the flower base and extend it upward, it will be about the same length as the flower. Pipe the yellow stamen in the center of your flower with a tip 3. Hope this helps.
