I measure my batter when i fill the pan. I make sure everything is level before I put it in the oven. When the cake is done, inevitably one side is higher than the other (round cakes). Any one else have this problem? Does anyone know the remedy?

Thank you in adavance,

Lainee

It may be that your oven isn't quite level.Sometime my cakes do that also.I level mine once they come out of the oven with a cutting board or wire rack placed ontop to flatten out the top. This has to be done right out of the oven.

it could be a hot spot in your oven...one of my ovens has that...in that case i jsut turn the pans everyone and a whiole and they come out ok...it could also be that your oven is not level...check it out...

The only time a cake came out higher on one side is when my stove needed leveling. It was off just a bit but it makes a big difference when baking cakes. Never had an uneven cake since then.
Good luck!!

That kept happening to me and I couldnt figure it out. Come to find out, my shelf was'nt in the grooves completely and once I saw that and fixed it I had no more problems... icon_lol.gif

What you can do for after they are done is level them off with either a leveler (from wilton) or be brave and use a knife. (i can't cut a straight line to save my life, so I have to use a leveler.. icon_wink.gif )

I know that sometimes i put a little extra batter in the pan if i can so that'll it'll rise some over the top so when I do level it I can use the top of the pan as a straight edge...

good luck

I think your range may have legs on the bottom that you can screw to change the height of the legs and level (like a washing machine).
