Baking By melissablack Updated 15 Apr 2006 , 11:03pm by MariaLovesCakes
Well, I think I may have salvaged my lemon cake, but now I need some help with a simple syrup! I have never used one before, never had the need, but this cake is pretty dry. What do I use? Does anyone have a recipe? TIA

Well I can't really do much help with this, but there was a thread on here about 2 hours ago about a dry cake and there was a recipe for a simple sugar on that thread.
HTH.

Simple Syrup
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
2 tbsp. liquer of your choice
Combine sugar and water, stirring well in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 30 seconds over medium heat. Remove from heat and cool to rom temperature and add lemon juice an liquer or flavouring of your choice.

Here's mine in case you are interested:
2 cups of water
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla
Boil water and then add sugar.
Let it boil on medium heat for about 10 minutes.
Turn of stove and remove syrup from heat.
Let it cool.
Add vanilla.
If you want to add an extra quick and make it fancy you can add:
1/8 cup of Brandy liquor
1-2 tablespoons of Amaretto liquor
