Plate Size?

I'm making a 6, 8, 10, 12 w/basketweave (some of you have already helped me out on this one), stacked, using hidden pillars.

What size plates do I use? 1" or 2" in. larger than the cake size?

I personally would probably use 1".

I agree with mouse..if that's the only border you're going to have. But if you were doing a larger border, definitely go with the larger plate.

I'll probably do a small shell border. If I use 1", will that give me enough room to ice the basketweave and still have enough plate to hold onto to stack them?

i know this might sound stupid, but sometimes i forget that one inch bigger is just 1/2 inch on each side. I'm an accountant but i still mess this up sometimes and don't have enough room on the edge!!!
