The cost of a piece of cardboard is insane when you go to a craft or cake decorating store. I thought for sure you can get a better deal off the Internet but I'm having trouble locating anything. I thought surely if you buy them in larger quantities as opposed to just one or two at a time, they will go for cheaper? Thing is, for a smaller cake that sells for under ten bucks, it seems rediculous to when I calculate the batch cost and then realize I have to tack on a couple of bucks for a board and a box....

Any ideas are surely appreciated!

You can find boxes in stores. Then cover the finished cake in the box w/saran wrap.

I have found all this stuff very cheap at my local party store - here in Houston, it is Party City. They have stacks of boards and boxes sold individually, so you only have to buy what you need. I have also cut foam core board to size instead of using a purchased cake board.

I just purchased all of my boxes from instawares.com

If you spend $175 or more you get free shipping which is great because I purchased every size I needed! (think about it, each carton or size weighs about 38 pounds! Shipping would cost more than the boxes!!)Spent $240 and I have enough boxes to last me a while!! The prices were also alot cheeper than any of the other sites!
