Can I make a BC/RI Carnation flower from a tip 102? The directions I have say to use a tip 150. I don't have that tip and am too busy today to run out for one. Thanks!

Yes ma'am you can. Any of the rose tips work well. Good luck! icon_biggrin.gif

102 works great for small carnations.

I've read that you say that you can use tip 102 to make carnations. Can anyone tell me how? I've got someone who wants carnations and roses on her cake and quite frankly my gum paste ones look like crap also since 90% of the cake is buttercream i'm not sure how well it's going to work together

Thanks,
Alicia

Since the 102 is a rose tip, use it the same way. Fat end down, work from the inside out, from the bottom up. Make an "m" motion and work your way up. Hope that make sense! icon_rolleyes.gif

Here's Wilton's instructions for a carnation made of royal icing, but it seems like it would also work with a stiff crusting buttercream. It suggests the 104 tip as an option if you don't have the 150:
