I made a tool box cake earlier and included chocolate tools. I've seen chocolate done a few other places here and their silver was a metallic silver..not the grey like mine. I added a little black to my white chocolate. The lady at my cake store said to use the silver glitter powdered stuff...I did, but it only gave it a VERY FAINT sparkle icon_sad.gif barely noticeable!
I don't have any airbrush..if that's how they were done, otherwise, how do I do it and/or what do I need to do it? Thanks

For gumpaste it is easy Breezy! Mix one part Super Pearl Luster dust with 2 parts Nu Silver Luster dust, add enough alcohol (I use Everclear) to make a mixture about the consistency of unwhipped cream, or latex wall paint and paint it on with an artists paintbrush. You will get a bright, shiny silver, almost like Chrome. Same thing works for a true, shiny gold, mix super pearl with any gold luster dust in those same proportions.

On set chocolate it would probably work to mix the luster dusts dry and just brush it on, but I have not tried that myself.

Thanks for the tip: Just today I used Nu Silver with Vodka and with Lemon Extract but couldn't get that shiney finish.

Next time try silver highlighter. Use it just like you do with any other luster dust.

Can you eat the Luster Dust? All the disclaimers make me nervous that I'll give birth to a three headed baby.

Yes you can eat it, it is non-toxic. I use it all the time. Nobody's gave birth to a 3 headed baby yet. LOL

You can get luster dust right here on CC. It's very affordable. I just ordered and received (thanks CC) several jars of it and can't wait to use it. I've never painted luster dust on chocolate, but I have on fondant. I just mix it with almond flavoring (it's clear). It works nicely and has a nice smell to it.
